Amorphis : The Karelian Ishtmus	Deathmetal	Comments : bought it following the months of its release. A masterpiece of atmospheric death metal.
Black Sabbath : Master Of Reality	Doommetal	A must have.
BARF : Ignorance- Chaos - Suicide	Hardcore	A very atmosphere CD. A few deathmetal touches there & there. Very dark lyrics. There from Quebec so some songs are English & some in French.
Cannibal Corpse : Bloodthirst	Deathmetal	It was hard to pick just ONE album. I choose this one because it represents what deathmetal should be. Also, my first CD from them.
Confessor : Condemned	Doommetal	Not your typical doom band here but really great album. A wonderful voice mixed with excellent guitar players.
Despair : Decay Of Humanity	Trashmetal	Here again, a great band with a great singer. No growls, no grunts, just a beautiful voice. Musically quite typical European trash but delivered very well.
Darkthrone : Soulside Journey	Deathmetal	If I had to just pick a very few CDs to bring on a desert island, Soulside Joureny would be very first pick.   I know that Darktrhone changed of style many years ago & I respect that but what a stunning album. Although some complain about the sound in general, I think it’s good enought.   I appreciate bands like Cannibal Corpse but if I could find more CDs like this.   Very atmospheric, mysterious lyrics, the particular voice on this album, all of these elements make that CD a MASTERPIECE to me.   I can’t tell how many times I’ve listen to it. I have lost count years ago.   I paid for it 3 times. First : a used tape then as a new CD couples of year after & finally the remastered version when it was released in 2002 I think.   If only they have finished Goatlord the way it was supposed to be before switching to Blackmetal(I know that finally released it but as demo version. Very good but I can’t imagine how great it would have been if only that had finished it. My feeling is it would have been even better that Soulside. Much more better)
Edge of Sanity : Unorthodox	Deathmetal	Dark atmospheric deathmetal. A pure pleasure at each listening.
Forbidden : Twisted into form	Trashmetal	A must have. Well executed.
Gorefest : False	Deathmetal	Second CD of the band, this one is my favourite. They after changed for a “hard metal” style that I’m not too found of.   Too bad.
Gorguts : Considered dead.	Deathmetal	French-Canadian Gorguts have been a leader in pure brutal death metal style for many years. They are inactive since while now.
Morbid angel : Covenant	Deathmetal	A hard choice here. Which album picking-up ? I ended choosing the first one I ever bought.   It’s nice to see a “older” band still touring and recording.
Mortification : Scrolls of the Megilloth.	Deathmetal	Typical death stuff with Christian lyrics. Interesting. Also great musicianship.
My dying bride : The dreadful hours	Doom/deathmetal	What a wonderful album ! A great mix of oppressive & brutal music.
Nile : Black seeds of vengeance	Deathmetal	Besides typical deathmetal, they also added some Egyptian instruments on some tracks. The result is stunning. Fascinating.
Obituary : The end complete	Deathmetal	Again, I had chosen the first CD that I bought from them. That album is a must! Definitively a CLASSIC here.   Probably their best CD yet.
Oppressor : Agony	Deathmetal	Very brutal stuff. Don’t listen to it if your heart is fragile !
Pentagram : Pentagram	Doom-metal	Cathedral has credited them as an inspiration so I decided to give them a chance. That band is, with Black Sabbath, the grand father of doom metal.   Another classic here.
Pestilence : Consuming impulse	Deathmetal	One word : WHOW !
Sacralis : Infera Destino	deathmetal	An all female death metal band from Germany. Disbanded a couple of years ago. Very talented.
Sinister : Cross the Styx	Deathmetal	A very talented group. That CD is my favourite so far.
Slayer : Reign in blood	Speed/trashmetal	Just listen to it.
Trouble : The Skull	Doom-metal	Another Christian band here. Brilliant album. Slow and tortuous.
Sorrow : Hatred and disgust	Doom/deathmetal	Disbanding shortly after the release of this album, Sorrow left as a testament a truly great album to listen to. Dark lyrics based on life facts, very slow rhythms with some speed bursts at the right place, Sorrow combined masterly elements of doom & death.   A too short career.
Vader : Ultimate incantation	Deathmetal	An excellent example of the deathmetal of the 90’s.
Vital Remains : Let us pray	Deathmetal	Very evil, very heavy, Satanic CD cover = pure pleasure!   A masterpiece.
Winter : Into darkness	Doom-metal	Looking for VERY slow deathmetal ? Do not look further more : you have just found it !
